Get Involved with World Spine Care!

At this time World Spine Care has developed clinical protocols that have been implemented in the pilot programs in Shoshong and Mahalapye, Botswana and Moca, Dominican Republic, and Accra, Ghana. Treatment provided in all clinics will follow evidence-based protocols as established by the clinical team. Each clinic is involved in a research program to monitor and evaluate outcomes. World Spine Care has currently established the following volunteer and educational programs:

Clinic Supervisor

Management of a WSC Clinic
  • Qualified and licensed chiropractor, medical doctor, osteopathic physician, or physiotherapist with advanced training.
  • Will be required to volunteer in a clinic for a period no less than 14 months
  • Clinicians follow the defined evidence-based protocols established by the WSC clinical team.
  • Clinicians are responsible for:
    • Patient care and managing the WSC clinic;
    • hosting, training and supervising volunteers;
    • recruitment of patients and promotion of the clinic, managing the WSC residence;
    • regular reporting to WSC;
    • documenting (writing, photography and video) events at the clinic;
    • communication with local health care authorities and Ministry of Health officials;
    • collaboration with local health care workers;
    • management of WSC databases and files.
  • Once on site, all your travel, food and accommodation would be provided by WSC for a weekly fee – the amount depends on the site where you volunteer.
  • Any excursions or extra travel would be at your own expense.

Volunteer Associate Clinician

Working with a Clinic Supervisor
  • The interested volunteer Associate must be prepared to spend at least a month at a WSC clinic.
  • Volunteer associates follow the defined evidence-based protocols established by the WSC clinical team.
  • Volunteer Associates will work under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor.
  • Volunteer associates must be licensed clinicians who are registered to practice.
  • You would be involved in direct patient care and do not need any prior experience for this opportunity, just an active license
  • Volunteer Associate Clinicians would be responsible for:
    • travel expenses to and from the site of the clinic;
    • raising at least $500 for WSC in advance of your departure (we would be happy to help you and provide guidance on how best to do this);
  • Once on site, all your travel, food and accommodation would be provided by WSC for a weekly fee – the amount depends on the site where you volunteer.

Volunteer medical or surgical consultant specialist

  • Orthopedic spine surgeon, neurosurgeon, rheumatologist, physiatrist, neurologist, or psychiatrist.
  • World Spine Care would welcome individuals with these specific skills.
