Nikiwe Hongo
Dr. Nikiwe Hongo, MBCHB, MBA is passionate about building sustainable health systems. She was born in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, and studied medicine at the then Medunsa, nog Segalo Makgatho Medical University, in Garankuwa, Pretoria.
After years in private practice, she followed her love for business systems and studied an MBA degree at Rhodes University. She has never looked back, but developed systems in health, in private NGO sector within HIV field and the public sector in the field of mental health.
She is a Director for Mental Health and Substance Abuse in KwaZulu Natal. She holds directorship and serves in a mining business. She completes a holistic approach as both a clinician and business practitioner. She has contrivuted to a number of published papers on the integration of mental health services at community level of care. Her dissertation thesis outlined issues around the values of shared corporate services in public health facilities.
She has recently started health coaching and gained certification on stem cell application, with particular interest on non-communicable diseases.
