5 years of spine care in urban Botswana: Respite and Inspiration
In March 2021, World Spine Care launched the BH3 clinic in Gaborone. Reflecting on the last five years, Botswana Clinic Coordinator Mufudzi Chihambakwe describes the BH3 spine unit as a place of respite for patients and a site of inspiration for clinicians.

World Spine Care mourns the loss of Dr. Maria Hondras, a chiropractor and researcher involved in studying the experiences of individuals with back and neck pain in Botswana. She will be missed.
Building Community in Botswana
Since opening the newest World Spine Care clinic in Botswana six months ago, Dr. Mufudzi Chihambakwe has been busy building a community around spine care. As clinical coordinator for the BH3 Clinic, Mufudzi has brought patients and community members together for physical activity and education–including a hilltop yoga session for World Spine Day.
